Christos Papadopoulos

Choreographer Christos Papadopoulos was born in 1982 in Nemea, Greece. His dance is organic and transforms the way bodies interact and organise themselves, expanding perception of their relationships. Using minimalist movements, he develops trance-like immersive experiences involving all the senses.

Christos Papadopoulos studied dance and choreography at SNDO (School for New Dance Development) in Amsterdam, theatre at the Greek National Theatre, and political science at Panteion University in Athens.

After assisting several directors as a choreographer, he achieved immediate success with his first pieces, Elvedon (2015), Opus (2016) and Ion (2018), which were lauded across Europe. Larsen C (2021) has been presented at 25 European venues and festivals. In 2023, Christos Papadopoulos created Mellowing for the prestigious company Dance On, and Mycelium for the Lyon Opera Ballet and the Lyon Dance Biennale.

In June 2024, he created a solo for Georgios Kotsifakis. In early 2025, he won the Rose International Dance Prize newly created by Sadler’s Wells. He latest piece, My Fierce Ignorant Step, premiered in Athens in May 2025.
